Android smartphones continue to be subject to a number of threats that could become a security risk for consumers. Purdue University and University of Iowa security experts are warning owners to use USB and Bluetooth accessories.

The reason is that they create software that takes advantage of vulnerability in Android software code and can turn smartphones into a spyware. Appropriate method affects many popular models of leading manufacturers.

Once the malware hits the device, it can start executing a series of commands. For example, it is possible to block all incoming calls, as well as to selectively stop some of them, to divert calls to other numbers.

Experts are also remotely able to stop and play 3G or 4G connections, but also to view location data and read text messages on smartphones, AndroidPolice reports.

Researchers are developing their own application called Atcuzer, which shows them that they can execute 14 commands on at least 10 Android smartphone models remotely.

This is worrying, since such a hacker attack that uses popular Bluetooth accessory and USB connection can create a lot of problems for users. There are a number of risky devices that cover both older and some of the latest Android brands from leading brands.
