The first 2-nanometer smartphone processors in the world will be manufactured by TSMC

TSMC has already set an ambitious task to become the first manufacturer to create a 5-nanometer smartphone processor.

The Taiwanese manufacturer already invests serious resources in building several facilities to help them achieve this goal.

Team specialists from TSMC have already begun research and development to develop the first prototypes of 2-nanometer technology, 91Mobiles reported.

Of course it will take years before we can use mobile devices with similar architectures. Currently, high-end smartphones are built with 7-nanometer production processes.

In order to make a transition to 2nm technology, major infrastructure improvements are needed, which require additional effort and financial resources. If everything goes according to the planned plan, the TSMC will be ready with the final versions of the processors in 2024.

The production will be held at the Southern Science and Technology Park in Taiwan. The TSMC strategy predicts before the end of 2021. to be equipped with 3-nanometer processors.

Mass production of the first 5-nanometer chips will begin next year. The architects in question will be 45% smaller in size but will provide about 15% higher performance. The biggest competitor of TSMC in this segment will be Samsung
