Scientists are testing different ideas on how to improve the efficiency of solar panels to allow them to generate even more energy. The latest project at the State University of Michigan (MSU) promises to cause a real revolution in this segment, since it allows them to create fully transparent panels.

Previous attempts in this area are related to inadequate material quality and poor efficiency, but researchers at the MoCA have discovered how to deal with these issues.

Finally, they succeed in creating a transparent luminescent solar hub (TLSC), which can easily be placed on windows in intelligent homes. This is also possible on any other clean surface, reports Arch2O.

The most impressive feature of TLCS is that it allows the concentrator to collect energy from the Sun, but without damaging the transmission of light. Their technology uses organic molecules that are invisible to the human eye.

Once the modules occupy a certain amount of light, they are transported along the contours of the edges where electricity is converted to thin photovoltaic cells. At present, the energy efficiency of the TLSC is less than 1%, but the following prototypes will cross the limit of 5%, say, scientists.

If everything goes to the plan, the first genuine products with transparent luminescent solar concentrators will become reality in the next few years. Their applications can be changed.
