Lilium is the name of a German starter who has ambitious plans to make the concept of flying taxi a reality. The company develops an innovative prototype that can fly and land vertically and is called Lilium Jet.

In recent months, engineers have eliminated a number of technical problems and carried out the first successful tests with the machine. The maximum speed of the Lilium Jet is 300 km / h, with a prototype equipped with 36 engines.

Each of these units is operated entirely from electricity and is arranged in two rows of six on either side of the nose. Lilium Jet also has two more twelve rows of twelve engine motors positioned in the rear wings, said Wired.

Each one is equipped with a rotor that absorbs air on the front and pushes it at higher speeds in the rear. The absence of rotary blades improves efficiency, reduces noise and eliminates the possibility of a bird falling into the engine.

The machine is designed to offer two pilot seats, but the company’s plans are for the final version to function independently. If everything goes according to plan, Lilium believes that up to five years flying fees can become part of our everyday lives.

To do this, there is a need for many regulations across countries around the world to accelerate the penetration of technology. Meanwhile, the German starter will continue to carry out flying tests by the end of 2019.
