Craig Wright’s lawyer confirmed that the entrepreneur does not own private keys that give access to 1.1 million bitcoins mined in the first years of the cryptocurrency’s existence, Decrypt reports.

On Tuesday, January 14, Wright notified the court that he had received information that would unlock access to wallets from 1.1 million BTC (more than $ 9 billion at the current price).

However, the family of his late business partner Dave Kleiman stated that Wright only handed over to the court a list of 16,404 bitcoin addresses allegedly belonging to him.

Andres Rivero, partner at Rivero Mestre Law Firm, confirmed that the file that the Australian entrepreneur received did not have private keys. Wright is still expecting to receive them later, he added.

Rivero said that the keys can be either whole or divided into parts. The lawyer refused to discuss the details of who the information is now and when it will appear.

In late December, Craig Wright submitted an email to the court, according to which he was to receive private keys on January 1, 2020. He later doubted that the information might be at his disposal.

Recall that in August last year, the court decided to recover from Wright half of 1.1 million BTC, the appropriation of which he is accused of by the Kleiman family. In January, Florida District Court judge Beth Bloom invalidated the decision.
