Privacy is still one of the disadvantages of Android devices. Despite Google’s efforts, the most popular mobile platform has been the subject of growing interest from hackers.

iOS device owners have traditionally been exposed to far less threats that could compromise their sensitive information. Case24’s new study, however, refutes the above statement, which is surprising.

Case and smartphone maker data shows that iPhone owners are 167 times more likely to be hacked than Android devices. The reason is the popularity of smartphones with this brand.

The information is generated from a number of Google searches related to how to grab apps and software on your device. Research shows that 10,040 of the searches are iPhone-related, while for competing Samsung models, for example, the number is only 700.

LG, Nokia and Sony are of most interest to consumers as they register around 100 searches of this kind. There is a strong interest in hacking popular apps, with a list of the top of Instagram with 12,310 searches.

Snapchat and WhatsApp are also of great interest, ranking second and third, respectively. The other end of the spectrum is Netflix, as only 16 people have searched the Internet to break into accounts on the popular video streaming platform.
