Dell will ship IT subscription equipment

Dell Technologies is launching a new, more flexible subscription IT model. With the initiative, the U.S. company will compete with cloud providers, including Amazon and Microsoft, Bloomberg announced.

Dell customers can now use computers, servers and other payment equipment based on resource consumption – memory, power, etc. Instead of buying and using the device as they wish, companies can rent the equipment and pay for it once a month.

Customers can, in fact, provide Dell Company with complete infrastructure management of their equipment.

Dell states Gartner’s prediction that 15% of data center equipment supply will be subscribed in 2022, compared to 1% in 2019. Hewlett Packard Enterprise – one of Dell’s main competitors – intends to fully transition to such a business model by 2022

Dell management believes that the time has come to optimize its portfolio to meet customer needs. The “as a service” model was born in the cloud and an organization like it, says Sam Grocot, senior vice president of marketing for the company.
